Ian's Universal Trip

This year, instead of a traditional birthday party,
Ian opted for a family trip to Universal Studios.
Jennifer (John's sister), her family and Mike Nation
(Ian's Godfather) all went with us to celebrate.
We stayed at an awesome hotel and couldn't have
asked for a better trip.

This seemed to say it all!

Our first evening, we just hung out at the hotel
pool. Every night they do a celebration at sunset...including
a hula contest. Jenna (on the left in the pink suit) and
Morgan (on the right in the black and white suit)
participated. The girls did a fantastic job and Jenna did her
"coconut dance" for days after we got home.

Mike, me, John, Jennifer, Acie, Chelsea
Morgan, Ian and Jenna.
Our shirts said "I'm celebrating my ____
9th birthday". (brother, son, nephew, cousin).
Ian got tons of happy wishes all throughout the day.
When we went on the Jimmy Neutron ride, the
attendant made an announcement to the entire
group that it was Ian's birthday and the whole
room clapped for him. It was like that all day!

The back of Ian's shirt said "I hope I get a Bugatti!"
John's said "I hope he gets one too!"
Mine said "Ha ha ha ha, I don't think so".
Jenna's said "What's a Bugatti?"
For those who don't do google and youtube searches,
a Bugatti is a very expensive, very cool car.

It's not a Bugatti but it is still cool. It is from
Fast and Furious, one of my favorite movies.

Ian was going to rescue the
girls from the mouth of Jaws!

Ahhh, relaxing in the pool after a hot day at
Universal.

Peek a Boo!

Ian wanted to play volleyball so badly. He was
a little nervous to get into the thick of things
until Uncle Acie played with him. Acie helped
Ian get the hang of it and Ian even hit it over
the net a few times!

Aunt Jennifer and her girls hanging out by the pool!
Aren't they beautiful?!?!

Happy Birthday Ian!

Jenna and Jennifer waiting for dinner.

Jenna just couldn't make it until dinner. We were
at Pat O'Brien, a piano bar, for dinner. Despite
the piano and the singing, Jenna was able to take
a very sound nap at the table while waiting for her
food. She looks like an angel, doesn't she?

We stopped by the very peaceful reflections pond
at the hotel on our way to Islands of Adventure.

At least it was peaceful before we got there!

Ian was bummed that he wasn't tall enough to
ride The Hulk. But he cheered up when he
found out he was tall enough to ride Fear Fall.
It shot you straight up and you fell straight down.

He looks safe enough!
After the ride slowed down a bit,
John asked him what he thought.
Ian asked if he had permission to
say a bad word, and John said he did.
Ian yelled "Holy Sh*t, Dad. Holy Sh*t!"
At least he asked permission first.

Still pumped after riding Fear Fall.

Yes, straight up and straight down. That's why
I stayed right on the ground!

Before the water ride.

After the water ride.
We were all SOAKED! It took us FOREVER to
dry back out but it was one of the best rides we
went on.

Across the lake from The Hulk
and Fear Fall. John and I went on
The Hulk and it was so fun. Instead
of the slow climb to the top of the hill,
it shoots you out like you are in a
cannon. It was a very cool ride.

Killing time waiting for our table to be called.

Still killing time. But she is cute,
isn't she?

We ate at Mythos. It was a very neat inside but
we waited forever. They told us 15 minutes but
it really took like a billion (or 40). Long wait or
not, it was cool to look at.

One fish, Two Girls.
It was a great trip. Thank you to Mike for taking most
of these pictures. We were so excited to have so many
of the people we care most about be able to come with
us to celebrate our Ian turning 9. What great memories!
