Grandpa, "it was a piece of cheese". He passed and
earned a star for his uniform.
He became a 9th Kyu Greenbelt back in December and
was already asked to test for the next level.
One of the reasons he was asked so quickly, is
his focus on posture (kamae) and precision of his
movements. When he was asked to test, Sensei
Debbie said "Ian is going to be one of our great
martial artists".
Yahoo to Ian!!! Well done!!

avoid getting hit by a shuriken.
A shuriken is similar to a chinese
throwing star. For these purposes,
Sensei Debbie uses beanbag shurikens.
Ian is showing off his slide stomp kicks.
This is Ian and Sensei Debbie. Sensei Debbie is
the "head" of the instructors and in addition to
leading classes at the Dojo, she travels to several
elementary schools for classes.
Here are most of the 8th Kyu testers waiting
patiently for the the 7th Kyu testers to finish
showing off their skills.

Congratulations Greenbelts! Today there were 6
students that passed the 8th Kyu test and 3 that
passed the 7th Kyu test. We are so proud of Ian,
he really did a great job!
In case you are curious, the yellow patches on the
uniform top are to show that you are a 9th Kyu greenbelt.
You then receive a red star for each new Kyu you receive.
Ian has his patch but his lazy Momma never ironed it on.
I guess now that we have a star to add, I better get to it!
