Blustery Day

Today was one heck of a windy day! According to the
weather experts, we were supposed to have sustained
winds of 30-40 mph. Where we were ONLY at 28 mph most
of the day, we did have a gust up to 46 mph. You had to
look at the ground as you got in and out of the car or your
face was hit with a ton of sand. I guess this
weather is typical of "spring". I tried to take some
pictures to show how you much sand was really blowing.

Here the sand is blowing across the road as if it is
snow. This is on the road into our neighborhood.

These mountains are usually crystal clear from our
neighborhood. You can see how fuzzy they look
due to the sand in the air.

If you look closely, you can see the sand whipping
against the brick wall.

This shows how much sand has blown through
the screen. Thank goodness my windows are still shut!

Proof of our nutty weather. In case the print is too
small to read...it says 31 mph as the current wind speed
with a gust of 46 mph recorded previously. I always have
weatherbug.com up on the laptop so I can see what is
happening outside. Yup, I am a nerd.

Every where we went today there were tumbleweeds
blowing across the roads. Some were the size of a large dog!
Here is a picture where some where caught in the corner
of a recently installed fence near our mailboxes.
John saw a car run over one and it burst into a million
little pieces once it was struck.

Although this has nothing to do with today's wind
speeds, here are my Captain Underpants. (This is
a series of books that Ian just loves to read). Once
I snapped the picture (OK...pictures), I was hit with
flying underwear. Tell me, where is the respect????

Ok...so every place has their own freaky weather. You left hurricanes for wind storms. Great pics. Loved the Captian Underpants participants.

You all will need to get "gogglers", as Ian calls them, for when you go outside! That I would love to see pictures of--especially you and John! :)

Love, Grammy

P.S. Donna, what are you doing up so early on a Saturday morning??

Tom is having the same weather in Iraq. What a good way to strip some furniture, your car, or any other surface you wish to paint.

One can't beat a underwear fight. Great pics. Thanks for sharing them.

Lue

Wow, that's windy. It looks like Captain Underpants and his trusty sidekick were ready to go outside and duel the fierce sandy wind. Kids are getting so big.

I love the pictures! How lucky your winter is over and you can enjoy the wind! Yikes! I wouldn't wear any dresses on any upcoming interviews unless you wear bloomer slips :) Take care - Miss you VERY MUCH! Love, Kim

So I guess no one goes to the spa for exfolliation. Interesting pictures, Back in FtM wouldn't we be buying batteries and plywood for a forecast like that? Grandpa

That is crazy. Donna is right....you traded one kind of crazy weather for another! I guess I'd take dirt and wind than tornadoes and flooding!
